Anyone want beta keys?

Postby eX_Patriot » Sat Feb 06, 2010 4:14 am

Yes sir, there is a game that's currently in a closed beta called Heroes of Newerth that I am a part of, and we have 6 (possibly more) beta keys we can distribute to eX members wanting to possibly get a new chapter going!

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/

For those of you who have heard of the widely played Warcraft 3 custom map called DotA, then you'll have an idea of what this game is about. It's pretty much an enhanced version of DotA with new heroes, new items, and new features. It's primarily a up to 5v5 semi-real time strategy with hints of RPG game play game which you choose from a wide variety of heroes with different abilities, and fight with your team to defend your base, while at the same time, trying to destroy the enemy base. It's loads of fun with great replay-ability.

Be warned though, the game does have a fairly steep learning curve. Both Pyro and I would be willing to teach those interested in playing.

This would be a great opportunity for eX to get into a game that has yet to be released, so we have a strong base by it's release.

I never really got into these games but they seem fun.

Does it have any similarities to starcraft? That was one of my favorite games on windows 98.
But It's worth giving a shot. I'd love to try.

Warcraft is similar to Starcraft, yes. But for this style of gameplay, you're just controlling one unit, unless you have a hero that can make other units, or units come under your control.

And hell, I never knew you played DotA Krony! I should totally get a game with you sometime.

Hell I've played DoTA since the original for Reign of Chaos when you still had a transforming catapult and Zerg. I haven't played in a good couple years since my computer went down but I'm slowly picking it up again.

What's the difference between that and League of Legends[is that what it is called?]

Both are DotA based, but from what I could tell, HoN is more of a straight DotA conversion with better graphics, a few different maps (standard 5v5 map, 2 lane 4v4 map, 2v2 map, and one other, soon to be more upon release with mapping tools available), some classic DotA heroes plus some new ones and/or semi-changed DotA heroes, VOIP, and a better interface.

League of Legends has mostly new heroes, a free download, and a few more customizable features that slightly alter your hero based on the configuration you choose.

The rest of the other features like reconnecting to a game during play, matchmaking, ladder ranking, etc.

My friend plays LoL, and one of the things that divides us is denying creeps/towers. You cannot in LoL, you can in HoN. There are ups and downs to both. Also, I believe you can access certain heroes weekly no? In HoN you can play all of heroes anytime. Mind you, there isn't a lot of variety in heroes (why Patriot and I still play DotA sometimes ^-^), but, it is still very fun. Like Patriot said, we have lots of CD keys between us, and much of the reason I was never on TF2 was because I got addicted to HoN XD. So yeah, let us know if you want some HoN :)

Oh, and denying creeps and towers means you kill them before your opponents do to "deny" them the money they would get and some of the experience :D
